My client is an excellent, fast-growing international law firm – a ‘Super Boutique’ with offices in the centre of London. It has an exciting, disruptive business model which combines the best characteristics of both conventional (full service, smart-working offices and a real team collaborating and working alongside each other) and virtual (very high remuneration, use of clever and efficient technology and total flexibility) law firms; but without the downsides of either one.

At this crucial stage on its journey, the firm has an opportunity for a polished, highly-motivated, smart-thinking and driven associate solicitor to join its high profile professional negligence/commercial litigation team, to work alongside one of the firm’s leading commercial disputes partners.

This firm is very positively run. It values fresh thinking which challenges the norm and it works fast and deliberately in order to achieve targeted, strategic growth and high performance for its clients.

The firm has developed a unique ‘Lawyer Lifecycle’ model, which goes through five phases:

  • Building your competency as a lawyer
  • Developing your leadership skills
  • Developing your own client relationships
  • Building your practice and your team
  • If you wish to, eventually selling the business you have built up


The Role

You will work in an experienced and very capable team; dealing with a range of professional negligence, financial disputes and commercial litigation matters. The senior members of this team work alongside the highly regarded lead partner who is also an outstanding business developer and who acts for a number of professionals, fast-growing and entrepreneurial business clients and HNW/UHNW clients and their business interests and investments. The workload comprises high value, complex commercial disputes and financial litigation matters and professional negligence cases and high value claims. Many of the matters have an international dimension. As an associate/senior associate in this supportive team you will have responsibility for running a range of commercial disputes across several of the areas listed above. Initially you will work closely with the lead partner on work that is passed across to you as you build your own clients and cases. With time you will develop your own caseload and benefit from the firm’s enhanced remuneration model which will pay you well beyond what a conventional law firm would.

You will be ready to grow further as a lawyer and as a senior member of the team and looking to capitalise on your background and track record as a professional negligence/commercial disputes solicitor – and be someone who really enjoys and thrives in such an environment.

It is likely that you will have benefited already from good training, be leading cases in your own right and already be networking well and building your reputation in your field of law. It is also likely that you will be the personality type who relishes challenge, is prepared to fight your client’s corner and yet is someone who creates a calm, assured and well-executed, detail-conscious outcome in a complex legal environment.

You will look to work closely as part of a tight-knit and transparent team, but be a self-starter; always looking to challenge the norm and take responsibility to improve things towards better outcomes for your clients.

You will also love working with, inspiring and motivating the people around you to get the most out of them and to enable them to get the most out of themselves. As an associate/senior associate, you will have a direct effect on the culture and values of this firm, so it is imperative that you possess those positive qualities yourself.
